Tamara was born in New York’s East Village and spent much of her childhood around her family’s generations-old apothecary. She attended Spence where she was introduced to the craft of photography and graduated from Barnard College. Her first job was waitressing at the iconic New York restaurant The Odeon where she met the painter Donald Sultan, becoming an au pair to his children when he relocated to Paris. After continuing a school year abroad there, she became a photo assistant and studio manager for several years. Since returning to New York, Tamara has shot for a variety of publications where she loves to capture the mysterious feminine and has most recently collaborated with the designer and artist Emma Fletcher on The Push Pose.
